Runners in Boise's popular Race to Robie Creek are being warned to leave their Ipods at home.

Organizers of the annual half-marathon that draws runners from across the region say they've decided to ban Ipods and other similar music devices in this year's race, scheduled for April 19.

Brian Rencher, a member of the race's organizing committee, says it's a safety issue.

It's a message also handed down by USA Track & Field, the sanctioning body for Robie Creek and its insurance provider.

Registration for the race begins Monday. There are 2,431 spots available, which are expected to sell out quickly.
