In a most delicious turn, SMU is dealing with another sports controversy.

No, no more death penalty. June Jones is alive and well.
It just may cost the university around $2.5 million.
It seems a former Lady Mustang basketballer -- Jennifer Colli -- is suing the school for revoking her scholarship.
She thinks its retaliation on the part of head coach Rhonda Rompoli because Colli went to the athletic director bitching about the coach discussing, lecturing, coaching and talking about her players love lives. Lesbian. Non-lesbian. With teammates. Wherever with whomever.
The coach, allegedly, commented that poor play was due to a certain player "not getting any" the night before. Which is kind of awesome.
According to all the court documents, it sounds like a Roman orgy. A lesbian college basketball Romo orgy. Player on player. Coach on coach. But not particularly player on coach, or coach on player.
The big deal here is that Colli doesn't think her sexual or relationship exploits are any of the business of the coach nor is it the content for lockerroom lectures. By the way, Colli admits to lesbian sexing up a teammate.
And Colli could not be further from the truth. If any player is sexing up a teammate, and then doesn't call the next day, and forgets their anniversary, and they break up, it's the coach's business. It's the team's business. Just as if the player was partying too much, doing too much blow or undergoing a surgical procedure ... no matter how private it is, it's the business of the SMU Lady Mustangs.
The first thing Colli should've learned as a young adult is that you do not go above the head of a supervisor unless you're are willing and ready to take on any circumstances that follow. It could result in something minor like a cold shoulder. It could result in being fired or a scholarship being taken away.
Is it fair? No. But that's how it kind of works, and most people learn to know better.
