Meghan McCain is the 23-year-old daughter of John McCain and Cindy McCain, who is making headlines in the news by being an active member of her father’s Presidential campaign and aiming to be the next wonkette.
She is 23 years old and has just obtained her Bachelor Degree from Columbia University. Meghan has since joined her father’s campaign and hopes to bring a new aspect to the campaign trail by blogging about it.
Meghan McCain has started her own blog called McCain Blogette where the blog will be filled with audio, video, and text on everything from debates and town halls to hotels and daily life. She says of the blog:
“We were basically loosely inspired by Hunter S. Thompson’s ‘Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail,’ but for more of this generation. get to the hotel and there’s just crap absolutely everywhere.”
Meghan McCain is described as a spunky, outgoing and strong-willed woman, who isn’t afraid to be a freethinker. She doesn’t believe that as a woman she has to be a girly-girl or a strictly politically minded woman. She says she enjoys clothes, fashion and hair, but she also reads the New York Times daily – there is no reason to be limited. As for what she would do if her father becomes the President, she says:
“If I was the first daughter, I would definitely be a public one. I like talking. Come up and talk to me, I love it!”

Tom Brady Gets Marriage Proposal From Ines Gomez Mont
Posted by Latest Innovations | 8:09 AM | 0 comments »
Ines Gomez-Mont is a reporter from TV Azteca and as NFL Media day goes she gets to ask questions right along with reporters from ESPN and the NFL Network. And the adorable Mexican reporter wasn't concerned about Tom Brady's ankle she was more concerned about his wedding finger, and likely other parts of the Brady anatomy as well. So much so that she wore a wedding dress to the event and had a marriage proposal for Brady.
Video: Tom Brady Gets Marriage Proposal From Ines Gomez Mont
Tom Brady was as cool as ever. While the woman held up a t-shirt that said the "Real Miss Brady" (Wait - wouldn't that be the real Mrs. Brady) she begged Tom to marry her and told him that she "loved him". I wish I was kidding, she really did beg.
***
She asked him over and over to make her "Miss Brady" and Tom calmed her down and asked her what her name was. When she said Ines Brady gave his best "aw shucks" smile and told her it was a beautiful name. Tom then claimed that he had a few "Miss Brady's" in his life. Later he would confess that he is a "one-woman man." Gisele is probably very happy about that.
The video exchange is here at AOL Sports. Later the reporter would even quiz head coach Bill Belichick if she was "better" than Brady's supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen. "I wouldn't go that far," the coach deadpanned.
***
A photo of the reporter is here and she is quite the looker, though she does appear to already have a wedding or engagement ring on. Still, give her credit, it was quite the gimmick.

Ganges River Dolphin Killed By Fishermen To Sell
Posted by Latest Innovations | 8:03 AM | 0 comments »A Rare Ganges River Dolphin is killed by fisherman in the hope of selling the dolphin as a rare fish, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency.
According to CNN articles on dolphins "The fishermen then tried to sell the body of the Ganges River dolphin as a rare fish. When they failed, the men gave up and dumped it outside a museum -- where a large crowd tried to catch a peek, the national Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news organization reported Tuesday."
The World Conservation Union classifies Ganges River Dolphins as endangered fish and has the following project of hope for the dolphins:
Hope for the Endangered Ganges River Dolphins
Protection of Endangered Ganges River dolphins in the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India is an upcoming project to be funded by the Sir Peter Scott Fund for Conservation Action. Ganges River dolphins (Platanista gangetica gangetica) occur in the Ganges-Brahmaputra River system primarily in India and Bangladesh. They are listed as Endangered on the IIUCN Red List due to a probable population decline of at least 50% over the last 50 years and projected future population declines due to factors that have not ceased, are not fully understood and are not reversible.
Dolphins have been extirpated from the upper reaches of many rivers, the population has been fragmented by irrigation barrages and dry season habitat is further reduced by large-scale diversion of water. Dolphins are incidentally captured in fishing nets and are also hunted in some areas.
The project will dramatically increase the amount of information on Ganges dolphins in the Brahmaputra River and will also provide recommendations for suitable protected areas. It is hoped that this will encourage the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests to adopt a cautious approach with regards to exploitation of natural resources within its range. Collection of the robust baseline dataset on dolphin distribution, abundance and behaviour will enable negative impacts associated with oil exploration or other human activities to be quantitatively evaluated.

It's been a week since Apple unveiled the ultra-portable MacBook Air, time enough for the reviews to start coming in (many of them positive, but with major reservations -- see Baig, Levy, Mossberg, and Pogue).
In that time, you may also have spotted, once or twice during "Project Runway" or "American Idol," Apple's ad for the device, which is as clever as any Apple commercial I've seen and certainly sells the product -- though, to my mind, it actually makes you want to buy something else even more. Take a look and you'll see what I mean:
Right, it's that song! Apple's ads often feature memorable music -- well, except for the Black Eyed Peas era, about which the less said the better -- but this song's more enchanting than most. I wanted to know what it was the first time I saw the ad, at Macworld, and the few times I've spotted the commercial on TV, the music has lodged into my back-brain, and I've found myself thinking more about it than the MacBook Air.
The song is "New Soul," by the young French-Israeli singer Yael Naim. You can find it on the eponymous album she released last October (here's an iTunes Store link, and here's more on her from Wikipedia.)
And here's the music video. Forget the MacBook Air, just play Yael Naim.

To non-experts — and, perhaps to experts as well — it seems that all security vulnerabilities are somehow related. Peel the onion deeply enough, and viruses, worms, botnets, phishing, pharming, Trojans and all forms of scary things end up in the conversation.
That comes to mind as we pass an unpleasant anniversary of sorts. Earlier this month, we “celebrated” the Storm botnet’s first birthday. Storm and other botnets, such as Nugache and Celebrity, bring all of these various forms of bad news into the conversation because they are just a delivery mechanism — an increasingly sophisticated and ominous delivery mechanism. The payload can change, depending on what the user — increasingly, a client of the bot herders — calls for.
This Computerworld piece offers views of several researchers on the botnet. David Emm, a consultant with Kaspersky Labs, points to Storm’s use of a peer-to-peer instead of more easily combated Internet Relay Chat (IRC) command and control structure as a key adjustment by the bot herders. Ashar Aziz, CEO of FireEye, also cited the significance of botnet’s move to P2P control last week in an IT Business Edge interview.
The second significant element of Storm is the number of variants it produces, Emm says. Computerworld also spoke to Trend Micro’s Jamz Yaneza, who points to the timeliness of Storm’s spam, which shift fluidly depending on holidays and news events. However, SecureWorks’ Joe Stewart was a bit dismissive. Storm, to him, is just another botnet — but one that has captured the imagination of the press.
ESET, a security firm in Bratislava, has released its 2007 Global Threat Report. The report, described at vnunet.com, attests to the effectiveness of botnets. The keepers of the Storm botnet, which has emerged as the highest-profile of several competing botnets, closely monitor its progress and release updates as required. The firm said that both Microsoft Windows and Apple’s Mac OS X were attacked last year.
PCWorld.com says that SecureComputing has established a Storm research portal that uses inputs from a 75-country sensor network. The real-time information is quite specific. For instance, the portal determined that Storm, which the firm says apparently is run from Russia, recently has launched phishing attacks against the Bank of Nova Scotia and Barclays Bank. The goal of the StormTracker is to provide security managers with information they can use to refine their filtering efforts in a real-time manner.
The bottom line is that the illicit economy that has developed around botnets means they will proliferate in number and grow in size. The folks who run them will use increasingly sophisticated methods. Aziz says botnets are competing against each other. That’s good news, in a way, since there is no honor among thieves and they no doubt will try to sabotage each other’s bot. But in the bigger picture it is not a good sign: Competition means more folks recognize there is money to be made and are bringing their intelligence and money to the table.

A 71-year-old climber has conquered Vinson Massif, the highest mountain in Antarctica, to become the oldest Japanese to scale the highest peaks on all seven continents, which have been dubbed the Seven Summits.
Tomiyasu Ishikawa, of Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, called his wife Masako, 71, on Sunday to tell her he had reached the summit of the 4,897-meter mountain on Jan. 21.
Ishikawa started climbing mountains in the Himalayas 20 years ago, when he was running a sports shop. In 1994, he scaled Mt. Everest to become, at age 57, the oldest Japanese at the time to stand atop the 8,848-meter mountain.
In 2002, Ishikawa, then 65, reached the summit of Mt. Everest using the Northeast Ridge from Tibet, becoming the oldest climber to conquer the world's highest mountain via this route.
Ishikawa lost two fingers due to frostbite while making his way up Alaska's 6,194-meter Mt. McKinley, the highest mountain in North America. By this time, he had scaled the tallest peaks on all continents, except for Vinson Massif.
But earlier this month, Ishikawa completed his spectacular mountaineering feet.
